Haven't been around much

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around much and such.  It's been kind of hectic and I haven't had a lot of time to spend online.  I'm hoping that in the next couple of days I will be able to spend more time and try to get back into the world of Livejournal.

Not Around

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around too much...been awfully busy in my life.  I went from no work to an explosion and I've got to try to stay sane while  suss it all out.

Worst part...I want to finish up a lot of the writing I have been working on.  I have a fan fiction with jackvelvet that was going well (and the writing still is) but time to work on it has gotten less and less and less.  Also, I have all these ideas bopping around in my cranium for the new fiction book I'm working on and I haven't had time to sit down and write it up.

I'm slightly worried that all these ideas will just float off into the atmosphere and be gone.  Yikes.

That being said, I'm going to stay optimistic and hopefully I will start posting more.

How's everyone else doing??

Working Hard At Hardly Working

Oi, it does seem that when I have the most free time that I do the most to piss it away.  I have so many thoughts and ideas running around in my brain that I can't seem to grasp just one.  It's like when a lion tries to single out just one zebra in the herd.

I am sitting down right now and forcing myself to write the next part of the Gwen/Jack fic I'm working on with jackvelvet .  Well, force may be too harsh of a word.  I want to write it, it's just the focus that's the problem.

I've found that the more I want to do the harder it is to do one of those things.  When my mind has a singular creative kernel, I can work on it and be fine, but when my brain is popcorn full of ideas....well, I get overloaded and fried.  I become listless.

I wish I knew how to focus.  Of course, Ritalin might work, but I'm attempting to get through my life without pharmacological aids.

Well, I should stop procrastinating and start writing this.

Hey ho, let's go!

10 high five

Inspiration...let's hope it stays...

So, it's a Sunday night (well, by this time it's really clicked over to Monday morning), and I'm realizing I have a week off.

Hopefully, during this downtime I'm not going to waste it away on video games, internet surfing, and sleeping.  I've got a few songs moving through my head I want to record, I've got some words for a book I want to get down, I've got some fan fiction to work on, and I've been inspired to do crafty things (though lack of funds will hamper the supplies needed for the last one).

Fingers crossed...if all works well I might have something to post.

Veronica Mars

Perpetual Veronica Machine

I'm currently watching Veronica Mars and enjoying it quite a bit.

I had always heard that the show was good and that I should watch it but I never got around to it until I kept hearing a song by Motion City Soundtrack named "Her Words Destroyed My Planet".

In it, Justin Pierre sings about a drug relapse he has after his girlfriend leaves him (kind of a running trend through most of his lyrics).  One line says "I fell asleep watching Veronica Mars again".

And it was this line that got stuck in my head and kept playing over...and over...and over again.

So I thought if I started watching the show then maybe, possibly, it might stop being in my head.  So I did.

And after watching the show, all I wanted to do was listen to that song.  So I did.

And after listening to that song, all I wanted to do was watch that show.  So I did.

And so on and so forth, like a damned perpetual motion machine in my head...keeping Veronica Mars within the orbit of my thoughts.  Thankfully, I still have two more seasons to get through until I run out, so fingers crossed the machine will break down before then...or else I may be having shakes and cold sweats.

Taken from JackVelvet

Your main fandom of the year?

Doctor Who/Torchwood

Your favorite film watched this year?
Probably Inception but I really liked an older movie named "Wristcutters: A Love Story".

Your favorite book read this year?
The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson (I actually liked the second book better than the first book...still haven't read the third).

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
As far as a new release, "My Dinosaur Life" by Motion City Soundtrack but for all time favorite album I first listened to this year....it would be Mule Variations by Tom Waits.  I wish I could find a new singer that had half as much soul as that man (and he was in Wristcutters: A love Story...pattern?  Maybe)

Your favorite TV show of the year?
Doctor Who/Torchwood...followed by Lost.  Yeah...won't be able to say that about Lost anymore.

Your favorite LJ community of the year?
abandonedplaces   Gorgeous pictures of dying places...sad and beautiful at the same time.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Doctor Who...that's what really got me hooked.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Not sure...pretty new to this whole fandom thing.  Haven't been jaded yet.

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Jack Harkness.  I mean...come on...his beauty should be illegal.

Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Gwen from Torchwood.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Finding a strong gay lead....Jack Harkness

The most missed of your old fandoms?

I'm so new, I don't have any that I miss.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Californication but I worry that it's just going to be porn without plot...which seems wrong for that show.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Watching the rest of Supernatural...new to it this year.

Top Five Favorite Albums of 2010

2010 is almost gone (...I know!) and everyone is probably inundated with 1001 different top five/ten/one hundred lists, so I apologize for this.

Every year I tend to try to say what I think is the bests of the year (because I am an active participator in the media culture), but this year is different. I'm going to just share what are my favorite albums of the year.

So I hope you enjoy and maybe see something you like that you didn't listen to before. :-) If you know of anything good that you want to share, let me know, I'm always looking to listen to new music.

It's Boxing Day and I'm spending in the best place I can...home. After working years in retail this is one season I'd rather shop online and stay home.

So, I spent the day catching up on some video games, some reading, and some eating of left overs.

I hope everyone had a good holiday and spend the last week of the year doing something you want to do.
